|My plans from the past few weeks.|
Doing this daily gives me the opportunity to reflect on my previous day, assess how I’m currently feeling (physically, emotionally, and spiritually) and decide how my day will be. I take into consideration what I need to do, when I need to do them, and how I’m going to do it all. I’ve only started doing this the past couple of years, but it’s boosted my productivity and the quality of how I live each day.
Here are the three main benefits of writing/plan out your day:
1. You Make Better Use of Your Time
When I plan out my day, I’m more intentional with my time. Since I consider the amount of time I have and how much time I need to accomplish my tasks, I treat my time valuably. I see time as something limited that needs to be used wisely, not an endless abyss of “later” where my least-desirable tasks get lost in.
I don’t plan to the exact minute because I’d feel micromanaged and that plan would be too difficult to follow. I’d just end up frustrated that nothing went the way I planned and I wasted a whole bunch of time planning. Instead, I create a plan that’s both as specific as possible and general enough to be flexible.
2. You Inevitably Become More Productive
By being aware of your goals, tasks, deadlines, and priorities, you’ll be more intentional and purposeful of your actions. Knowing how much time you have to get it all done makes you value your time even more.
3. You Feel Better about How You Spend Your Days
At the end of my day, it feels great to see a lot of items crossed off my To Do List. I feel productive, purposeful, and that I spent my time wisely.
One of my favorite ways to write out my day is using the 2016 3P Planner. The “3Ps” stand for Purposeful, Practical, and Personal, which is what I designed it to be. I took elements from other planners that worked for me. Consider it the “greatest hits” of personal planners. Download, print, and start being more productive today!
