Having a sense of purpose is arguably the most powerful motivator out there. I can't think of anything else that makes me push myself more. My sense of purpose gets me up, to work, through work, through my home responsibilities, and everything else that's thrown my way.
I've met a lot of people who've tried to find their purpose in life. Most often, it's categorized as a career. "My purpose in life is to be a nurse."
Sometimes it's a role. "I'm meant to be a dad."
I, myself have in some time and effort to find my purpose in life. For me, it wasn't entirely satisfying. I've found that soul searching is an ongoing process. I've learned it's a life-long habit to practice. It may change at different stages in life. While I believe that finding one's purpose is important, it hasn't been nearly as empowering for me as defining it.
Defining my purpose in life has been giving me a stronger sense of purpose than anything else. The purpose of my own life was now mine to mold. I chose to be in a career that made other people's lives better. I chose to be the family man that I envisioned to be. I decided what values I held in my heart the highest. I have been defining who I am, and that has been absolutely terrific.
What I want you to take from this is that having a strong sense of purpose is both empowering and motivating. You can find it and you can define it yourself. Either way, I hope this helps you find fulfillment for your days ahead.
